About Us /and The Blue Butterfly Legacy
Every Sea’cheles creation carries a small blue butterfly; not simply as a design element, but as a tribute to my father, artist Al Lockwood, and the legacy he left behind.
Many years ago, while driving through Virginia, a brilliant blue butterfly unexpectedly flew into my father’s car. When he reached his destination, he discovered that the butterfly had come to rest on the passenger seat. Moved by its unexpected visit and remarkable beauty, he carefully preserved it. That single butterfly became the inspiration for his lifelong artistic signature and the symbol of his creative work through Blue Butterfly Designs.
My father was an artist, a Marine, an avid runner, and someone who found beauty in the ordinary moments of life. He taught me to notice the details others often overlook—to appreciate nature’s quiet masterpieces and to create with purpose, patience, and heart.
Today, that same blue butterfly lives on through Sea’cheles.
Each butterfly placed on one of my handcrafted shells is a gentle reminder that love, creativity, and the people who inspire us never truly leave us. Their influence continues in the things we make, the beauty we share, and the lives we touch.
