Sea’cheles began with a love of creating and a little inspiration from the sea. What started with a few beautiful shells has grown into a collection of handmade coastal treasures—each created individually, so no two are ever quite the same.
You’ll find everything from sweet and sentimental to salty, sassy, and occasionally a little feral. Every piece is made with love, creativity, and an appreciation for the perfectly imperfect beauty of handmade things.
And if you spot a little blue butterfly along the way, it’s there for a reason. 🦋 It’s a special part of the Sea’cheles story and a tribute to my dad, an artist himself, whose Blue Butterfly Designs continue to inspire mine.

Legacy 🦋
Every Sea’cheles creation carries a small blue butterfly; not simply as a design element, but as a tribute to my father, artist Al Lockwood, and the legacy he left behind.
Many years ago, while driving through Virginia, a brilliant blue butterfly unexpectedly flew into my father’s car. When he arrived at his destination, he discovered it resting on the passenger seat. Moved by its unexpected visit and beauty, he carefully preserved it. That little butterfly became his artistic signature and the symbol of his creative work through Blue Butterfly Designs.
My father was an artist, a Marine, and an avid runner who taught me to notice the beauty in ordinary moments and to create with purpose, patience, and heart.
Today, his blue butterfly lives on through Sea’cheles. Each one I place on a handcrafted piece is a reminder that the people who inspire us never truly leave us—their love and influence continue through what we create and share.
When you bring home a Sea’cheles creation, you’re receiving more than handcrafted coastal art. You’re becoming part of a story of family, remembrance, resilience, and hope.

For my People 🦋
Some Sea’cheles are made to sell. Others are made for the people who have helped make me who I am.
While creating a collection of nightlights and gifts for some of the people I love most, I realized that spread across my worktable wasn’t simply a collection of shells. It was a map of my life.
There were friendships that began in eighth grade, Karyn we met in home economics class when my hand made skirt literally fell off ; here’s hoping my skills have improved!! Haha and my high school and lifelong bestie; Stac we met when trying to escape thru a window on a bad date; incidentally we got caught but our friendship was cemented for life; we literally talk every single day and I couldn’t do life without her! It is these people and friendships that have lasted through decades, and so many seasons of our lives, Another sweet friend from long ago that I was so happy to find again and am truly blessed for her. I can also say I have a true soul sister who came into my life through our children and became my rock during one of my greatest losses and who, more than tweny five and many adventures later, is still family; My Jenny from the block. I am blessed to have these exceptional people as part of my tribe . I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my Sha; who is newer on the scene; but in reality it’s been almost 20 years now. I remember fondly when she told me that she had been praying for me
( a true friend to come into her life) I am , very grateful for all of these souls who have walked through life for better or worse with me and me them . These are the people who have come along beside me…through love and heartbreak, children and grandchildren, laughter and loss, illness and healing, beginnings and goodbyes. Some have been there almost my entire life. Others arrived exactly when I needed them. All became family.
Additionally, their beloved dogs and cats began appearing on shells in my workshop, complete with names, tiny details and, naturally, perhaps a little too much glitter. And somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t simply making nightlights, trinket dishes or ornaments.
I was making little pieces of our history.
A Sea’cheles piece can say so many things without saying them aloud:

And, as always, a tiny blue butterfly finds its way onto each creation; a reminder of my father and of the love and creativity that started all of this.
Because the most beautiful things we make aren’t really about the things at all.
They’re about the people we make them for. 🦋
And at the Heart of It All…
At the very center of my people are my two sons, Dylan and Carson. Watching them grow into the men they have become has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I am endlessly proud of them;not simply for what they have accomplished, but for who they are: their hearts, their strength, their humor, and the way they love the people around them. They have walked through some difficult chapters beside me, grown through them, and become extraordinary men in their own right. Being their mom will always be one of the greatest joys of my life.
And then there is my Mama/Mimi !
She has been woven through every chapter, through the celebrations, the heartbreaks, the rebuilding, the ordinary days that turned out not to be ordinary at all, and more adventures than either of us probably planned for. She is part of the foundation beneath everything I create and everything I am. Some bonds don’t need explaining. They simply become part of you.
My family isn’t defined only by names on a family tree. It is made up of the people I was given, the people I found, the people who found their way back, and the people who chose to stay.
These are my people.
And maybe that is what Sea’cheles is really about.
Creating something small enough to hold in your hands that somehow carries something much bigger: a memory, a story, a beloved pet, a person, a piece of home.
The most beautiful things we make aren’t really about the things at all. They’re about the people we make them for. if you have read this far; THANK YOU but more importantly I hope it has offered you a moment of reflection and gratitude to take a pause and think about those people that you love . Handmade & One of a Kind
Every Sea’cheles creation is individually handmade with care. No two creations are exactly alike. Natural shells vary in size, shape, texture, coloring, and markings, and handmade elements may vary slightly in placement, color, embellishment, or finish.
These small variations are not defects—they are part of the charm and character of owning a handmade Sea’cheles original. Product photographs are intended to represent the overall design and style of an item, but the piece you receive may have slight variations from the item pictured.
Custom & Personalized Orders
Custom creations are made especially for you. Please carefully review names, dates, spelling, colors, and other personalization information before submitting your order. Because personalized items are created specifically for the customer, they may not be eligible for return or exchange unless they arrive damaged or an error was made by Sea’cheles.
Shipping
Shipping charges are calculated according to the weight of your package and its destination and will vary from order to order.
We carefully package our handmade creations to help ensure they arrive safely. Once an order has been transferred to the shipping carrier, actual delivery times may vary due to carrier delays, weather, holidays, or other circumstances outside the control of Sea’cheles.

We make every effort to photograph our creations accurately. However, colors may appear slightly different depending on lighting, photography, and the settings of your phone, tablet, or computer screen.

Safety & Natural Materials Disclaimer
Sea’cheles creations celebrate the beauty; and wonderfully imperfect nature; of the coast. Our handmade pieces may incorporate natural and found materials, including whole or broken seashells, sea glass, shark teeth, stones and small shells , sequins, glitter and other natural elements. Because these materials are used in their natural or minimally altered form, they may contain irregular edges, points, rough surfaces or other naturally occurring characteristics.
We carefully inspect, prepare and finish each creation and take reasonable precautions to reduce sharp or rough areas. However, the nature of these materials means that some edges or points may remain. Please handle all Sea’cheles creations with appropriate care.
Many pieces also contain small decorative or functional components, including crystals, beads, charms, glass, stones, hardware, small batteries, miniature lights and other embellishments or components. Although these components are securely attached or installed when your creation leaves our shores, handmade items may be affected by shipping, handling, impact, environmental conditions and ordinary wear over time. Components may loosen, detach, break or become damaged.
Sea’cheles creations are decorative items and are not toys. Unless a product is specifically identified otherwise, they are not intended for children. Please keep shells, sea glass, shark teeth, broken shell pieces, beads, crystals, charms, small batteries, miniature lights, electrical components and other small or potentially sharp components away from babies, young children and pets. Small components may present choking, ingestion, puncture or other injury hazards.
Small batteries can be particularly hazardous if swallowed or inserted into the body. Never allow children or pets access to loose batteries or battery compartments. If a battery or light component becomes loose, damaged, leaking, unusually hot or otherwise compromised, discontinue use immediately and safely remove the item from reach.
And because apparently lawyers have to say this: please keep them out of grown-up mouths, too. 🐚
By purchasing, handling or using a Sea’cheles creation, the purchaser and user acknowledge the inherent characteristics of natural and handmade materials and agree to use and display the item responsibly and for its intended decorative purpose.
